WELCOME TO SEASON 2015
ST PATRICK'S FC's 50th ANNIVERSARY YEAR
St Patrick's FC Finals Campaign begins
Well with the final competition rounds being played on the weekend the club has finished the normal season with 3 teams crowned the Minor Premiers with the 18C's joining the 14D(1)'s and 21B's confirming their place at the top of the league with a 3-1 victory over the 2nd placed Bangor. A huge congratulations to those teams.
Unfortunately we had a few teams miss out on a semi finals berth by a single point with the 12E's unfortunately losing 0-1 on Saturday to see Nth Sutherland jump them into 4th place. The 14A's have flown home narrowly missing 4th spot after a performance of the year 3-1 victory over 2nd placed Georges River only to have Gymea win to maintain 4th spot over our boys. The unlucky 35D's could have ended up 2nd yesterday had four other games gone their way, unfortunately the only game of the four that went their way was their own 3-2 victory.
On a positive note the AL14's started yesterdays match in 5th place playing 4th placed Miranda. As far as games go it was tight all the way with the Miranda team losing the match 1-0 to our boys with a nicely placed header from Dom Stephens late in the game. However Miranda's young female coach won plenty of admiration from the predominately male St Pats supporter base yesterday afternoon. I believe she has had a number of offers to coach at St Pats in season 2016.
Our luckless AL10's, despite starting the final round at the top of the table could only manage a 0-0 draw to see them finish for a third year in a row in second place. Let's hope this year they can take out that elusive premiership. Our AL7's and 35B's despite both having 4 goals put passed them by teams lower on the ladder they both still managed to finish in 4th place.
Our women's teams continue to impress with our W30C's (better know as Walee's) finishing second one win away from their first Grand Final appearance. Our SWA's continue to show their experience and tenacity finishing the season with their usual late surge winning 5 of their last 6 games including a victory over the highly fancied Miranda.
Well done to all teams this year especially those who will continue to represent the club in the Semi Finals, Finals and Grand Finals, we wish you all the best of luck.
Once venues are confirmed I am sure the teams mentioned above would love some club support in the following weeks as they contest the finals series

St Patrick's Grand Final Results
Mixed results for the club on the final weekend of the season. We got off to a great start with the 18C(1)'s winning in style 4 - 0, Our 14D(1)'s who only had 2 goals scored against them all year worked a bit harder but still maintained a clean sheet winning their Grand Final 2 - 0. Two from two, unfortunately the celebrations ended there. Our highly fancied 21B's were not at their best despite scoring early they were beaten by Marton 3 - 5. This brought us to Sunday where a large contingent of St Pats supporters defied the rain only to see our W30C's not at their best to go down 0 - 2. Off to Bates Drive for ther SWA clash against the undefeated Bonnet Bay. Some controversial decisions including a penalty appeal on Sunni Hughes being denied by the young referee despite a clear photograph taken by our president indicating otherwise. Bonnet Bay were then awarded a soft penalty to go up 1 - 0. St Pats fought back and well deserved goal to Sunni locked the scores up at 1 - 1. A push in the back to Bernadette Dibley went unnoticed by the referee which lead to Bonnet Bay's second goal. The pressure mounted on our SWA with a parochial crowd behind our girls - they responded with sustained attack on the Bonnet Bay goal, but it wasn't to be. Well done to all our Grand Final teams. Congratulations to our premiers in our 50th year being our 18C(1)'s and 14D(1)'s.

OH what a night
The biggest celebration in 50 year's has been and gone. Friday 11th September 2015 will long be remembered as the best social event for St Patrick's FC with over 260 guests in attendance at the Black Tie event which was the pinnacle of the clubs season and it's history.
I could not be any prouder than I was on Friday night of our wonderful club. Not only are we the family club and a supportive club but we are now by far the best looking club. Although the men looked great in their suits with many wearing Shamrocks or a touch of green, the ladies certainly stole the night making it an extremely classy event - you looked amazing. The feed back I have received about the night has been glowing and those that didn't attend will be kicking themselves. The committee was blown away with the interest and contribution to not only the silent auction but the live auction where we saw the number 1 commemorative jersey go for $2500. I would like to thank the 260 guests that attended but I would like to make a special mention to the following who did an amazing job. Darren McDonald well done mate your efforts in the planning and precision was first class. Matt Saunders who also did a great job as your right hand man, the ladies that helped give the night that X factor - Rachael, Kellie, Corinne and Justine, Paul Scott for being the MC, the entire committee, the club sponsors, the AL14 and 45C boys for helping run around and set up, Siobhan McStay our official photographer, the venue they helped just as much in making the event special. Thanks also to Marcus Digby from the The Fold Group you printed everything required in one day. Finally to Brett Woods 35D (Parallel Studios) who was responsible for designing the theme, posters, invites, tickets, programs, pop up banners, table list, years of service certificates and powerpoint template, you were amazing and very tolerant of the demands and tight timeframes. I think Friday night will be looked back on as the most successful and special event in the clubs history and I cannot wait to post the official photos. Thank you to everyone of you, I love our club |
Photo of the Year Competition
1st Nomination - St Patrick's FC W9A1
Photo published with the consent of the parents and photographer
A delightful photo of our young under W9A1 team . The girls certainly look like a side not to be messed with!
We are very proud of all the girls and women that play for our club and who make up 23% of the player numbers at St Patrick's FC. We would also like to thank our female committee members, and female coaches and manages who give up their time to support our club. St Pats girls rock!!
If your team or any players in uniform have a photo or photos that you would like to be nominated for the club photo of the year and share on the website and Facebook please send to [email protected]. There will be an award at the end of the year to the player or team photo that is judged the best by the members of the club as the photo of the year - Remember all photos which have players under the age of 18 will require consent. As President I have nominated the first photo which I think will take some beating.

A sad time for the St Patrick's FC Community
Vale Tony Parker (17/1/1945 - 6/4/2015)- Life Member
It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Tony Parker, a life member of St Patricks FC.
Tony was a wonderful man who committed many years of his time with his mate Frank Lawrence to make St Patrick's FC what it is today – whether it be working on the oval, managing a team or just being there for the club. Tony was a wonderful supporter and was St Patrick's through and through, not only through his involvement our football club but also with the St Patrick’s schools, the parish and the many associated activities including the St Patricks Sports Club. There weren't many games either where Tony wasn't there supporting his son Matthew and grandson Daniel. Tony's presence and support will be dearly missed especially during this our 50th anniversary which should be a year of celebrations. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Tony's son, Matthew (35D's); his daughter Jo; and his grandson, Daniel (15c's). |

A HUGE THANK YOU FROM THE CLUB
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has been involved in getting our club ready for the season. Things do not happen by themselves and with this year being our 50th anniversary there has been some additional time and effort required. Last weekend was a terrific example of the club spirit with a number of members getting down to the clubhouse to help clean it up. There were also the ladies that came to help Kelly put the uniforms together for all the teams and then there were the guys that assisted in putting together the new posts and nets and installed the net support sleeves - thank you to all those people.
Finally our long awaited golf day and sportsman lunch was held last Friday and it was a really well run day that was enjoyed by everyone who participated. It was topped off with an excellent Q and A session during lunch with Paul McStay (The Maestro) ex Celtic and Scotland captain. A big thank you to Paul for agreeing to be our guest, a big thanks also to Paul Scott who gave up his time to be the MC and to Darren, Matt and Latham for organising the day and making it such a success.

St Patrick’s 50th Anniversary Golf Day and Sports Lunch – “ hits the spot!”
Congratulations and a big St Patrick’s thank you to all those that took part in the Club’s first 50th Anniversary Event – The Golf Day and Sports Luncheon.
Friday 20th March 2015 and we were presented with a beautiful start to the day weather wise, the perfect ,morning for golf. There was a fair amount of anticipation (and the friendly banter) running between the teams that kicked off with a cup of coffee and a bacon & egg roll under their belt. An ambrose event, shotgun start and at 8:00am we were under way. The teams headed off, and although it appeared to be a slow start for some teams, they were soon all into their rhythm and the par’s for each hole just kept rolling in. The friendly wave to the opposition soon changed to “so how are you blokes going” to “so does your husband know your using his clubs today” and then the cheers from the groups that started hitting birdies.
Of course the classic lines of “Golf was the winner on the day” and “It’s 18 holes, not 15 or 16, you have to play all 18” and “I know I hit it further than that!” could also be heard throughout the course. In the end, there can only be one winning team, and for this year it was Group 1 (on a count back) consisting of Gary Barnes, John Beardsley, Phil Beardsley and Matt Saunders that won the Day with a score of 6 under the card – Congratulations.
But the best was yet to come. We all settled into the “Ambrose Room” overlooking the course and enjoyed a nice buffet lunch and the drinks started to flow. We then had the opportunity to hear from one of the games greats, Paul McStay OBE. Paul is a former Celtic and Scotland representative player at all age groups from juniors to seniors, to league and international levels. He also captained these sides through many of these year’s. Paul answered some very well delivered and probing questions by our MC, Paul Scott, and kept us on the edge of our seats, hanging on to his every word. You could have heard a pin drop as he ran us though some of his experiences at the elite level of the game and his thoughts on some of the games great players and coaches. Thank you Paul for the time that you shared with us.
We then went onto another important part of the day, the auction. Again, Paul Scott was able to encourage everyone to get involved through his quick and keen senses, including hearing one of the Beardsley boys talking on the phone saying “I can get one of those at Bunning’s for $220” – “Did I hear $220, $220 is the bid!, who’s going to beat $220 for me” – and I’m sure I heard a “I’ve really got to learn to keep my mouth shut don’t I” from said Beardsley. But of course it all worked out in the end.
Then onto the gold coin slide – closet to the bottle campaign, where the competition ran hot as everyone stepped up to see if their coin would be closest. But it was our club president, Paul Gallagher who came away with the goods, not just one bottle but both. A bottle of bourbon and a bottle of scotch – well played Paul.
But of course, the day was about fund raising for the club. I am pleased to advise that even though the participant numbers were not as strong as what was anticipated, the generosity of everyone there shone through. The event raised a total in excess of $2,500 on the day, including a very generous donation from our guest speaker Paul McStay.
Thank you all for making the day such a success for the club.

Well who would have thought that we would be thinking about football again, with only four months break since the end of the 2014 season?
This year will be a very exciting and busy year for St Patrick's FC as we celebrate our 50th anniversary. Thanks to all those players, parents and committee members both past and present who have helped shape the club to what it is today. There is still plenty of work to be done and we are always seeking keen and enthusiastic members to be part of the club committee and executive and help take our club forward. With the 50 year celebrations we couldn't let this auspicious occasion go by with out introducing a new uniform. This uniform has been developed on the tradition of previous strips and introducing the dark emerald green colour replacing the previous bottle green. For the first time ever we have a club goalkeepers uniform which is available in both short and long sleeve for the senior teams. The committee has provided a great deal of support in coming up with an agreeable uniform that everyone can be extremely proud to play in. Along with a new uniform we have an updated logo, an anniversary logo and also a new website header thanks to Brett Woods from Parallel Studios and our 35Ds team. We also have a new goalpost cage and brand new senior A league box goals and new Mini Roos goals. Our celebration events kick off with our golf day and sportsman lunch on Friday 20 March at Kareela. If you are interested in playing and supporting the club please refer to the information below. Our season will conclude this year with our 50th Anniversary black tie event at Doltone House, Sylvania on Friday 11 September. For those wishing to attend tickets will be on sale early in the season and I suggest you get in early as numbers are limited and we have already had a significant amount of interest. Finally players will be able to register through myfootballclub.com.au from 5 January 2015. Information on how to register can be found under the Registration tab above or by clicking here. The club will also be holding x 4 face to face registration days. This information can also be found under the registration tab. Looking forward to a very big and exciting year and sharing it with each and everyone of you. Regards Paul Gallagher President St Patrick's FC |
